July
24th Flight Day
What
a fabulous day. All three of my children
took me to the airport. It was a great morning. Everyone was in a good mood and we had lively conversation in the car to the airport. We even arrived early!
Too bad the plane was not ...... it was delayed!
Well
what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger! I had 10 minutes to get my connection in Newark with the delay. But the second delay meant I missed my connection. That meant I couldn't fly out of Newark to Stockholm until the next day.
But the adventure has just got more interesting. For some reason they rerouted me to San Francisco (west coast USA) and then to Newark (east coast USA) on the red eye. The San Francisco airport is very interesting with lots of art and displays. there was an interesting exhibit of old radios and phonographs which I enjoyed.
It is now July 25th and I have eight hours until my flight time. Lots of time to get some work done, which only lasted so long. Newark airport is not as interesting as San Fran and the prices were crazy high but it is extremely busy. This made it an interesting places to sit and people watch and converse with other travelers.
So I have had my two 4ish hour flights to warm up for the main event........ Newark to Stockholm in 8h 30m.
Mid flight it became July 26th. And I had finally arrived at my destination. Customs was a breeze. Luggage was a bit more challenging but I managed, with help, to get everything onto a cart. I come out to get a taxi and the first thing I see in the airport is a 7 Eleven...... not so Swedish.
I found the taxis and haggled my price down 200 kr.
The drive to my new home was very Swedish. Old buildings and the water. Absolutely gorgeous.
It took a bit to find the place, but I finally arrived at my new home and the taxi driver was very accommodating and helped me get all my baggage to the door.
Well I will have to leave my story here for another day.
Have a
great day….I will.
Chris
