I
arrive at my new home to meet my housemates …. A retired Kurdish woman who
speaks Swedish and some English, her daughter who is fluent in English and a
foster child who speaks no English. They
are very lovely people and very helpful.
The
apartment is on the second floor but getting there is quite interesting. You go through a secure entry and up a flight
of stairs (or take the elevator if you have a bunch of stuff or just being lazy),
then you go back outside since the corridor to the apartment is like one big
balcony and I walk down to the end to our door.
Then on the other side of the building is your private balcony. It is an interesting concept.
My
room (which is behind the tree) is very white….white walls, white bed covering, white chair….Swedes love
white. I have since added some colourful
flower decals to the wall to brighten it up.
It is a nice size and has a desk, comfy chair and the bed. I also have a wall of family photos to keep
me inspired and from missing them too much.
There
are lots of trails behind the building and in the general area. They are wonderful to explore and I try not
to get too lost in them. I always manage
to find my way back, but occasionally I have to ask for directions. There is also a fitness park close to the
house. It is made out of wood and the
weight is from the wood. They vary the diameter
of the wood to made it lighter or heavier.
I don’t have any pictures but I will have to get some soon. I have actually used it once and hope to get
back to it soon.
The
laundry room is very cool! You have to schedule
a time to do your laundry, using your entry fob. Then no one but you can enter the laundry room
during your time. That way you don’t have to worry about someone
taking your clothes or anything. Mind you don’t be late or you won’t get any of
your clothing. Even better than that is the drying
closets. They just have heat and no
tumble dry so you can dry all your hang dry and dry flat clothes in them
without damaging them.
Well that is my new home. My only complaint is that there is no air conditioning .......anywhere and no fans to be be bought either. But i am getting use to it.
