We stopped at the entry to the parc. The second picture is of the mountain we are going to go up.
Here is a map of the Canary Islands and then one of La Palma with the volcano and the valley it left.
The following pictures are from the top of the mountain, some looking down into the bowl. This is an older island and as such has more green on it. We drove to the top on some really narrow steep, winding roads. Ted would have been impressed with the driver. He just whipped that bus around lick it was a walk in the park.
The next series is from a very old church.
All around the islands they have patios and walkways in patterns of stones. These were flat skipping stones all put on their sides. I thought they were really cool.
It was a great excursion. Then I went to do a bit of suntanning. It was Gala night at dinner and the wait staff did a show at the end which was fun. Then I went to the Casino to listen to the acts there for a bit with people I had met on the excursion. The gaming area was small and not utilized much.
Most people were there to listen to the music. There were three acts that rotated through the evening. The first was a trio that did jazz, Sinatra era and other lounge stuff. They were good, especially the piano player.
Then there was a single acoustic guitar player who added recorded music to his act which was pretty good.
The third was a band complete with saxophone/flute player to compliment the two guitars, drummer, piano player and singers. They were really good. This night they did a really good Beatles set.
I went back to the cabin when the others were heading to the disco. The disco opened late at 11:30 and by then I was tired from my busy day.
