Exploring the Medieval Museum

I found another free museum ..... The Medieval Museum in Stockholm, just outside Gamla Stan behind the palace.  It is actually built under the bridge and has the remains of the old town wall excavated inside.

This is the back of the palace and the people are walking on the bridge it is under.

This is the museum under the bridge

It featured Swedish history from the beginnings of Stockholm pre-1252 through  the 17th century.   It was quite interesting.  There was information on the hierarchy of the trades people in the town and lots of other interesting things.  A small town was reconstructed inside .  They sure didn't have many tall people back then based on the sizes of the houses.

Here is an old boat, well parts of it at least.  The old wall is to the left of the boat.  Underneath is the inside of what remains of the vessel.

This is a wooden crucifix from the church, dating back to the 12th century.

Here are some wax figures of a jouster.

I really enjoyed my time at the museum.

Here is a cool looking building I saw on my walk to the museum.

This one is an army building.

I saw the pre-show for the changing of the guards at the palace.  They parade around town with a brass band, guards and police on horseback.

This is a cool statue.

This is the opera house

That was my excitement for the day.
